| DESIGN NAME: Linea PRIMARY FUNCTION: Storage system INSPIRATION: "Less is more" minimalist design concept inspired by the line UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Minimalist storage design proposal inspired in the line, based on the simplicity of the resources used and the use of space through structure and function. It is an extremely functional and decorative resistant piece of furniture which has been made from recicled materials. Therefore this piece is enviromentaly friendly. It is made entirely by iron rods creating a light rigid structure, easy to displace. This furniture can be placed under a desk for folder storage or any object which need easy access. It can also be used in a bedroom or living room for simple storage or decorative items OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The storage system is lightweight and has small dimesions, enabling its easy displacement using only one hand from above. This system is ideally functional where books, folders, small objects or accessories can be stored. Permitting to be used as an original exhibitor. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The idea was developed in a month time. The prototype was handmade manufactured in one day (February 2015) in Madrid, Spain. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The structure is made from iron rods and the manufacturing technique used is cutting, bending, welding and painting. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions are 70 x 29 x 28 cm Prototype Weight 1 Kg TAGS: Minimalist Design, Storage System, Furniture Design, Minimalism, Black RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design is based on shape and function research through a minimalistic, subtle and functional formal language. The line creates the design and makes the details of each element blend, aplying resistant materials. Permitting each customer to completely cuztomize the piece. CHALLENGE: The challenging concept was to create a new magazine holder design which would contribute to its value though the structure, the initial function and the use of materials. NAME: Alvaro Diaz Hernandez PROFILE: Alvaro Díaz Hernández is an interior designer, currently studying Industrial design, specialized in furniture design in Madrid, Spain. His biggest interests are architecture, photography, art and design. Despite his 22 years of age, he has developed his own e-commerce site and a personal website where interior design, product design, paintings, graphic design, photography and furniture design proyects are displayed. He is actually working as a freelance for several clients and soon two furniture design projects are going to be commercialized for a new furniture Company (Nyova). The design proposals punctualize minimalism, where simplicity, functionality and attention to detail are key characteristics. |
