DESIGN NAME: AT WILL
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential house
INSPIRATION: Located in central Taipei, this house is an 8th floor apartment which possess broad window view and sufficient illumination. With the environmental condition, designers make people in the house even in bathroom can enjoy the broad window view. It is a blank house which provides the inspirations for designers to combine the beauty of primitive and the delicateness of artificial design. Besides, "a hotel-like home" is the central idea that the designers want to present in this project.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: AT WILL is a project that combines the rough and the delicate. The designers reserve the original cement ceiling and from which starts the design of the whole project. Common has been focused. The position of the kitchen island increases interactions between people in the house. Behind the kitchen island is a customized trellis glass case in which displayed the boy's Lego collection. The concept of sofa arrangement is similar to that of Lego: users can piece together each sofa at will.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The traffic is an important part of designing a residential house, especially in crowded Taipei. In this project, the spatial arrangement and traffic flow centers on the living room. Round-shape traffic flow makes the users move easily. As for the space layout, designers focus on the cement material and the surface of the wall, and use the same hue of gray to extend the visual feeling of original cement ceiling.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in February 2014 and finished in September 2014 in central Taipei.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Main material are veneer, spray paint, glass, iron pieces, marble, cement finish, solid flooring, and imported tiles.
