| DESIGN NAME: Night Light PRIMARY FUNCTION: Earring INSPIRATION: The idea of a piece of phosphorescent jewelry that lights up and glows in the dark was inspired in the bioluminescence of the abyssal fishes. These species of fish live in the depths of the ocean and, even in total darkness, they make themselves visible and attractive to the opposite sex through their mysterious ability of lighting themselves. With this exquisite piece of art, it intends to give women the opportunity to shine even at night. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Phosphorescent jewel that glows in the dark. With this exquisite piece of art, it intends give women the opportunity to shine and be noticed, even at night. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Night Light earring, have a unique turquoise color that allows it to be worn day and night, since it has the property of glow in the dark. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in 2012 where it was exposed in college Anhembi Morumbi in Sao Paulo capital / Brazil, in the presentation of course conclusion, where he was given a standing ovation by all teachers and students. Now in 2015 has been enhanced and presented to the A'Design Awards Competition. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Jewelry composed of silver and acrylic resin. The resin has phosphorescent and fluorescent characteristics. When developing this product many challenges had to be surpassed. New manufacturing techniques were developed in order to achieve the proper texture. Also, the glow capability of the piece was determinant to its success and so the search for the perfect material was so complex. Afterwards, the design was thought to bring the worthy lightness and fluidity. To obtain the ideal shape, it was carved in plaster manually, and later created the mold with silicone in which was deposited the pretreated material, the resin.
