| DESIGN NAME: MOON FLOWER PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lighting INSPIRATION: This product is a result from the project which has a target to create new traditions By crashing the korean traditional crafted products and the most high-tech engineering technology. An oil lantern named “cho long bool” was a traditional Korean light. Many holes and organs of a bamboo joint means the stamens of moon flower. The combination of a bamboo joint, “nature “ and a LED light “high-tech” Can make a more familiar mood of a room. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project is to make a lighting on the condition that korean traditional materials such as wood(bamboo wood), stone and paper should be used. These constraints make the unique properties of this lighting. It was essensial to use LED lighting and CNC carving to get realistic function. The back paper reflection is made of Korean traditional handmade paper from mulberry tree, which give a uniqe korean shyness as like as the moon. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This lighting can be handled as a genal stand lightings. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This lighting is composed of 3 components, bamboo joint and round paper reflection with LED lightings, a bamboo branch, and a round wood bottom. An aluminium inner lighting part is carved by CNC machine and anodized as finishing, a bamboo joint which is printed some pattern on using hot small iron. The back paper reflection is made of Korean traditional handmade paper , which gives a unique shyness as like as the moon.
