| DESIGN NAME: Xima PRIMARY FUNCTION: Human Machine Interface INSPIRATION: Make it simple. The principle of simplification inspires the Xima project. Ima Active provides the operators with an interface that guides them in the whole user experience path. This means allowing not only to react quickly in case of possible problems, but also to prevent them. Xima, in fact, has the purpose to increase the operators' predictive capability, thus reducing the risk of critical situations and improving the quality of the final product. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Linearity, intuitiveness, iconicity, scalability: the criteria upon which Xima is built. Its strength lies on being both compliant with the constraints imposed by the pharmaceutical market and easy-to-use. The result is a human-centered design that improves the sense of control from the operator working with the machine interface. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Multi-touchscreen, wifi, bluetooth, OPC, iOS, cloud SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Xima is scalable to multiple touch screen devices: from 7-inch to 19-inch monitors, including a pilot project on mobile devices. TAGS: Xima, Ima, interface, HMI, automatic machine, pharma, process, quality control, human-centered design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Xima is the result of an in-depth analysis regarding the usability of Ima Active HMI. How to achieve a similar purpose was clear since the beginning: establishing synergies among different skills. Graphic designers and software engineers, in fact, assumed a participative approach that strengthens their respective know-how. That is why the most crucial part of the project was the identification of the guidelines. Done this, the development of every single application came accordingly. CHALLENGE: Strict regulations, complex tasks handled by automatic machines, high quality standards for the final product are only some of the constraints affecting the pharmaceutical market. In front of such a tricky scenario, Ima Active wonders: is it possible to comply with all these restrictions, without neglecting their effects on the HMI user? In other words, is it possible to design an interface both compliant with all these constraints and easy-to-use? Answering to all these questions led to Xima.
