DESIGN NAME: Tree in Cross Jewelry
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Jewelry
INSPIRATION: The Tree in Cross collection was inspired by the Salvador Dali. Salvador Dali is the most versatile and prolific artists of the twentieth century. The design was inspired by his surrealism art pieces with concepts of contradiction, illusion, floating objects and the stuff of dreams. The cubic cross is a floating object in the air wrapped a tree inside which represents life, immortal and eternity.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The initially idea was to make use of the 3D printing technology to design jewelry which can break through the traditional jewelry methods. It enables to create design-driven pieces. The goal was to design energetic, limited and specialized jewelry adopt inspirations from Modern Art, then apply and transform the concepts into a wearable art jewelry.
Jewelry shall not be limited to a decorative or luxury wearable objects. It can express one’s personal life experiences and transformed into a unique and tailor-made jewelry piece.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Tree in Cross Bracelet is slightly flexible to adjust to different wrist sizes.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The Tree in Cross collection started in November 2014 and finished in February 2015.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Tree in Cross collection was sculpted using Maya and 3D printed in sterling silver

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: -
CHALLENGE: The 3D model was rejected several times by the 3D printing service company. After several amendments to the design and thicken the branches, the pendant was successfully 3D printed in sterling silver.
