| DESIGN NAME: Brilliant Slit PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ring INSPIRATION: Brilliant Slit ring is part of a whole collection which is inspired by unwrapping & peeling concepts like unwrapping a gift, unwrapping a chocolate bar ,opening a canned food , peeling fruits. In particular the idea behind Brilliant Slit ring comes from the concept of getting to the valuable core of something by slitting it open. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Brilliant Slit is basically a simple ring that is slit open in the middle. By pulling back one side of the organic looking cut we can see the ring’s mystic guts, which are basically black plated gold prong settings and white brilliant cut diamonds. The colors of gold plating and diamonds varies in different models. And only by showing off a few brilliant-cut gems where surface cuts open, it creates the illusion that there should be way more gem stones underneath the whole body of the ring. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in late DEC 2014 in Tehran,Iran and now (FEB 2015) in the last production phase and expected to be available to the market by April 2015. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This design has been modeled with Gemvision Matrix 8.0. The material is 18K yellow and white gold and brilliant cut diamonds. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Ring's diameter: 20 mm Ring's width: 10 mm Diamonds: 17 pieces of .02 Ct white brilliant cut diamonds TAGS: Ring, Diamond, Gold, Slit, Jewelry RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: During the development the most challenging part was devising the right way of putting diamonds inside to make it look like they were already inside. So after some trial and error we found it. I designed the bottom part of ring separable so that there was a clear path from underneath to put the diamonds setting inside where that is not visible to the eye .
