DESIGN NAME: Crocodile
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Foil Dispenser
INSPIRATION: Inspired by the powerful jaws of crocodiles, the project is designed to solve te problems of users facing with not safe and not precise existing foil dispensers and their inefficient cutting mechanisms.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Care your health, care your food then. As the importance of food storage in our homes increases, unlikely we get lazier to cover our meals with stretch films. In order to avoid the trouble of classical stretch-film dispensers, Crocodile provides an opportunity for both pressing and cutting the stretch film at the same time. Being a safe, thanks to child lock, ergonomic and fun utensil, Crocodile brings joyful look to kitchen with its bright color palette.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The mechanism of Crocodile works as a scissor. When handle is forced foil, that stuck with two surfaces, is easily cut by sharp edge; so, It operates both pressing and cutting strecth film with its properly functioning simple mechanism. Thus, Crocodile's efficiency is by far the best. Along with properly functioning ; since it has a self-locking system that prevents any possible accidents caused from the interection of a child, any parents would not hesitate to use Crocodile in their kitchens.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was designed in 2013 in Ankara.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Project is realized through injection molding technology and abs plastic material is used with a high quality finishing.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In the beginning of the design process of Crocodile, the main research was about the problems of users with using existing foil dispensers. As a team, we conducted our researches for the products used both at individual and industrial level. After being sure about the problems to be solved, the concept is developed as a solution.
CHALLENGE: The design challenge took place after the concept development phase. In order to test its usability and ergonomy, user tests are conducted with a prototype. With those tests, the aim was both to see whether it is suitable for different users or not and the meachanism works in an intended way.
