DESIGN NAME: Stretch
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bench
INSPIRATION: The inspiration was to reshape a material against its nature while stretching. And to abstract the material itself respond against its nature. You are not able to stretch a wood.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Seating element is made up of solid billet wood. Choosing different kind of materials give the object richness in its production details. It is a modular design which can be an independent or multiply side by side and/or perpendicular.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Corian side parts help the wood stay balanced and they work as a side coffee table. These two side parts help to higher the wooden part for the protection of wood. It is a modular design which can be an independent or multiply side by side and/or perpendicular.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2015 and finished in February 2015.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: At the production period, the main focus was the size of the billet, solid wood which can be found in nature easly or not. And afterwards the challenging thing was the reshaped billet has the ability to carry multiple person when it was hewed acording to the idea of strech. The type of the wood was chosen according to the need of an outdoor element, so it should be resistant, and the billet size should be in greater radius size.
CHALLENGE: The chosen solid wood billet should be dense in size of the rings. So that it can give the impression that the wood pretend as if it is stretched. And this was the challenging part to reshape a wood against its nature.
