| DESIGN NAME: Plus AIR PRIMARY FUNCTION: Furniture Construction System INSPIRATION: The key idea of the Furniture Construction System Plus Air is based on the construction system of the multi level building. On the assembled base is laid overlays, when vertical walls are supported by inserted backing for stiffness. The overlay length is unlimited, the segments are joined by hidden puzzle type connections. This way many configurations of the furniture can be assembled according to the space requirements - shelves, dividers, reception desks, workstations, etc. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Furniture Construction System (FCS) Air Plus is suitable to construct many configurations of different furniture items - shelves, dividers, workstations, etc. Using CNC milling center and special software, without any mistakes and with minimal manpower you get the required segments of the System in flat pack, which can be assembled or reassembled without any screws easily. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Furniture items Plus Air is made of 6 mm laminated plywood. A piece of furniture is sturdy, lightweight, durable and resistant to scratches and moisture. This furniture can travel with you - it can be re-assembled by the need to expand or reduce. Furniture assembled easily and without additional hardware, transported flat pack. Disassembled it's about 5-7% by volume of assembled item. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: It is long lasting project. It starts in 2012 and in 2014 wins "geras dizainas" prize and Lithuanian furniture fair prize. the system is on improvement and testing way till now. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This sustainable Furniture Construction System is made of long-lasting lightweight and durable material - from 12 mm to only 6 mm birch plywood in melamine covering.This material is waterproof, ecologic and fully recyclable . SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: custom dimensions, flatpack packaging. The highest shelve constructed till now is 6 meters height and 4,5 meters length. TAGS: furniture construction system, shelving system, plus air, room dividers, plywood furniture RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Then the main idea of Furniture Construction System was clear it was not easy to choose the right material - it had to be strong, lightweight and inexpensive. Another solved problem - a strong connection joins both vertically and horizontally. After a special software for the System design was developed and now enough to enter basic information - outer dimensions, material thickness, dividing grid - and the software automatically placing elements of the System to the plywood sheet. CHALLENGE: To make something like Lego but in the interior - that's what I wanted to create. And the Baltic weaving traditions inspiration inside. The piece of furniture as a woven carpet can be set to infinity if the System exists.
