DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Wild Abandon

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Residential House

INSPIRATION:
The idea of this house is to enhance its spacious living yet everything is within reach. A place where it portray out the clean-cut look and low maintenance yet with a certain level of comfort zone. The whole area is twisted into different spaces instead of the default that we see usually.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The choice of using black and white tone with a tinge of colors, this house is designed in a way to create an open space to accommodate high frequency of cooking and gatherings. The kitchen is extended to the dining area to split a wet kitchen while the latter into a dry kitchen. The existing living becomes the new dining near outdoor instead of the usual confined space. Walls are also hacked away to maximize the space while a cozy corner for relaxation in one of the bedrooms.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Its a fully furnished house.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in August 2014 and took about 3 months to complete. It was handed over to the home owner in October 2014 in Singapore.

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Interior Space and Exhibition Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Glossy marble floor tiles complement with black acrylic panels to portray a clean and sleek image in the living area. Quartz is chosen for all kitchen top for easier and low maintenance. Black aluminum frame with clear glass doors were used, to segregate the balcony and the cozy corner yet helps to extend the visual of the living area. Stainless steel materials are used at the cooking area in the kitchen for heavy cooking, with aluminum roller shutter to save space and easier access.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
1,600 sqft, a resale apartment located in singapore

TAGS:
Wild Abandon, HDB, 5 room Apartment, Singapore, BTO

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Simplicity. Research was done on the different styles of bachelor's pads to find out the common areas and furniture was sought earlier to determine the colour combination to ensure that the colour injection fits perfectly to the whole feel. Visited on the chinese hawker vendors to research on what are the materials used and precautions to take note on the interior for chinese cooking.

CHALLENGE:
The mixture of colour is important because black and white can appear to be too cold thus the choice of colours used has to ensure that it brings out the liveliness in the house yet bringing out the masculinity side of it. The choice of hacking down various walls is also critical so as to weigh the level in bringing out the extension of the whole space.
