| DESIGN NAME: Lovenest PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: The beauty of imperfect industrial materials with vintage finishes. The house inspiration comes from a tapas bar whereby lots of people can interact at the same time. To create a fun and functional space is the biggest challenge in a confined area. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The blend of industrial and vintage house located in Singapore. The layout of the house restricted the space to create ample storage and creativity. Therefore, They started to break the boundary by combining the living hall with the dining room together. The space now allows more guests to interact with each other in the open area. The long breakfast counter served a multipurpose function like baking and preparation. The Kitchen now separated into a wet and dry area which totally helps the couple to enjoy heavy cooking in the enclosed space. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It is a fully-furnished house. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in August 2014 and took about 2 months to complete. It was handed over to the home owner in November 2014 in Singapore. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Vintage fancy concrete block and Turkish tiles were used as they entering into the house. It served as a screen to provide privacy. Quartz table top was proposed to use at the breakfast counter. It was to provide extremely low maintenance for the modern family lifestyle as they mainly spend their time at there working. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1500 sqft. a Build-to-order apartment located in singapore TAGS: Lovenest, HDB, 5 room Apartment, Singapore, BTO RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The night life of a Tapas bar. The socialization and layout of the tapas bar makes the house a great place for gathering. After rounds of selection of tiles and materials. They shortlisted a few choices like Turkish tiles, traditional hand molded bricks and Vintage fancy concrete block from different places and countries. CHALLENGE: The used of individual material is critical. The house has to create the look of the tapas bar but yet friendly for home user. Normally Tapas bar needs a huge space to accommodated large group gathering, so is crucial to note on the dimension of the apartment. The space also design is such a way that suitable for daily usage and work purposes.
