PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Lightning

INSPIRATION:
The creations of Gobo Lightning are crafted in a constant concern for harmony, balance and aesthetics, derived from designer's experiences and influences; environmental studies, computer programming and chemistry. The golden ratio occupies a central position in his research, establishing beauty and the form of consistency. Designer also has a passion for modular origami, influenced by Ron Resh, which is one of the pioneers in paper folding, Origami Tessellations and 3D polyhedrons.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This design consists of three nested golden cuboids in a modular strucure which can be operated with a pulley sytem. This allows the object to have a variety of different forms. The light rays filtered by the designed structure allow to project shadows in a space with pure and varied lines. The object is composed by 3 golden cuboids and 9 equilateral triangles. This kind of geometric combination ensures perfect proportions. The fineness of the materials accentuate the product with a clean look and emphasizes its lightness and modernity.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
This creation contains a strong emotional dimension. From it an atmosphere of well­being is emanating which is a result of designers desire for balance, ideal proportions and lightness. A design that can also boast itself by being didactic. It is possible to play with object's shape in order to decorate the space with different shadows. Similarly, choosing a warm color bulb can delete projected shadows.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
I started the project in October 2014 and I finished it in January 2015. I develop this project in Bruxelles in a fablab (openfab Bruxelles).

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Do the 3D on Rhino. Find a solution for the assembly of the structure ( template : polystyren cube). Find a glass ball weighing 200 gr.

I'm the producer of my own project "I pay for my all materials". Besides working in my workshop, I occasionally work in fablab (http://openfab.be/)

The Gobo Lightning creations are made in a constant concideration of harmony. The polyhédrons, tensegrity and the golden ratio occupies a central position in their research. Each Gobo creations filter the light rays and can therefore dress up a room in shadows, and pure and diverse lines. Purity and illumination are intensified by the lightness of the used materials.
