DESIGN NAME: Dewy
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Brooch pin
INSPIRATION: Inspired by nature, the design represents how dew drops appear on the surface of a leaf. Dew signifies truth, sincerity, peace and innocence. The dew drops are in cabochon emeralds in yellow gold setting and represents how it reflects the color of leaf in sunlight.
The most significant part of the design is the leaf emerging from the circle that shows how the leaf encircles around a stem. All aspects were given special importance while designing so that it stays true to nature.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: the brooch pin can be worn as a hair clip too.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The design doesn't have any extra features to its functioning as it functions like any normal brooch pin does. For the design to function as a hair clip one doesn't has to transform it completely and can be suited with any tie up hairstyle.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The brooch was initially designed in December 2012 as a part of my portfolio.
The 3D design project was started on 5 December 2014 and finished on 11 December 2014. It was started as a class project while taking a CAD/CAM class at GIA New York. This design won the 'Students Choice Award' held at the campus in December 2014.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: -
CHALLENGE: The most challenging part in this design was to make the leaf emerging from the circle which is domed with a smooth surface on a 3D software. The task was achieved successfully after applying several different commands.
