INSPIRATION:
First of all an old chest was explored in the attic. This wine label design was inspired by the love letters betwen Austrian officer and young Czech girl from the begining 19th century. And here is the story from old chest: When the eyes of an Austrian officer and a young Czech girl first met in 1913, none of them knew how strong the bond of unfulfilled love would enter their hearts. Marie was only 17 years of age. Her parents had promised her to the son of a landowner from a neighbouring village. However, Marie was so charmed by the Piero di Gardi a young Austrian officer that she could not think about anyone else. For long months she confided to him her feelings on small pieces of paper, and the young officer gave his love in return. However during the battle of Gallicia by the end of summer 1914 a stray bullet ended the young officer´s life. Marie stowed her last unfinished letter, beside a bundle of letters from her beloved officer, into a military wooden chest in the attic. There it remained hidden for 87 long years. Love letters full of desire and passion were found during the renovation of the old house where Marie once lived. The story they told became the inspiration for the art design of the wine label, on which there are letters from the young lovers and rolls of paper with secret messages. The young Czech girl was the grandmother of the creator of the wine label. The artwork, in likeness of these letters, symbolizes the join of two beautiful people. Their fate was not in favour to them but their story stays forever.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Design of handwritten wine label symbolizes love letters between a young Czech girl and an Austrian officer. Two manuscripts of young beautiful people are penetrace on the wine label which symbolize the story of unfulfilled love.Rolls of paper hanging on the neck of the bottle are secret love messages. The whole concept is supported by a believable story from the beginning of the World War One. Design, manuscript,story, rolls of paper these are significant attributes which distinguish our project from competitive brands and affect the customer in his decision making.

For the first time, the final project was presented in San Francisco International Wine Label Competition 2012. Bottles of wine is sold in the Czech Republic

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The production of labels is realised by FLEXO technology. Print is performed by UV colors which are hardened by UV light. Used material is ITALK.K.80. It is one-sidedly printed paper with a shiny surface modification and glue suitable for print of wine labels. The glue is resistant to moisture and temperature differences. Labels are painted by matt lacquer.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
I had this project in my head a lot of time to be finished. Main impuls for this work was discovery hitherto unfamiliar story of my grandmodher and their secret love. I spend a lot of time looking for many lovers letters and thinking about how to take this story to wine label.

Vladimír Raška

PROFILE:
Vladimír Raška has been working for multinational distributors of alcoholic drinks such as Sovesco, Allied Domecq or Global Spirits in the Czech Republic for several years. Since 2003 he has dedicated to product design. He has had significant achievements in international competitions in USA where he has won two silver medals in San Francisco International Wine Competition(2012) and gold medal in Denver International Wine Competition (2013) for wine labels design. Behind the ambitious design of brand Piero di Gardi stand three people. Aneta Rašková, Simona Rašková and Vladimír Raška. Two students of the Metropolitan University in Prague and the University of Technology in Brno and their father- experienced brand manager. Their charismatic project is like a cinematic story. Enthusiastic author with great idea of attractive design was rejected by dozens of companies. Then he conquers the world by his own hard work and determination. However it requires not only courage and a little bit cheekiness but especially original great idea. Wine label design, story of brand Piero di Gardi and good fabricated marketing project is realized by authors of ideas in the Czech Republic. Authors of original design are opened to cooperation with a great distributing company across Europe.
