Smart Refrigerator
INSPIRATION:
The refrigerator can only slow down the growth of bacterial,but can not prevent the deterioration of food.Sometimes people forget to eat their food in the refrigerator before the expire date,so when the food has been found,it molded already. In my project,the food that people put into the refrigerator will be labeled,the labels are projected onto the food through a wireless projector.They contain the owner's information and storage period of the food.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This smart refrigerator can record the user's identity information and make it into labels.Those labels are projected onto the food through a wireless projector.When people take out food from this refrigerator,they can see freshness and the time of storage of the food,so that they can use the food which might be nearly expired as soon as possible.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
When users touch the handle at any position, their fingerprint will be recorded by the intelligent control system. This system will identify the user's identity, and record information of the food that put in or taken out by the user. These information will be made as a image label and project onto the corresponding food by a micro wireless projector. The label indicates the storage date and freshness level of the food.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in May 2013 and finished in August 2014.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
More mature biometric technology and micro wireless projection technology makes the design concept become more feasible.In this refrigerator, each shelf has been attached with a mini wireless projector and the handle has a built-in fingerprint sensor and biometrics device , the outer layer is Silver Nanowire Films. This Smart Refrigerator design combines these modern technologies to provide people a healthier and more environmental friendly life.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
In the early stage, we found that people are concerned about food safety, especially when multiple families are using the same fridge. It's unavoidable that people may mistake others food, which leads to some of the food maybe left forgotten and going bad in the refrigerator. Through analyzing, we choose this Smart Refrigerator to solve the problem. Using the micro wireless projection to project information onto the food can let people know how the food freshness level is and also will not affect food storage.
CHALLENGE:
The hardest part is: how to show the information about the food. These information needs to be demonstrated quite visually and not too complicate to understand, especially need to be suitable to all kinds of food. Also it shouldn't cause any more trouble when people try to get their food. While light label becomes a perfect way to achieve this idea. It can use different color to show different level of freshness, and also can be projected on any food surface.

I am so impressed by the Sliver-Touch Smart Refrigerator!
