DESIGN NAME: Barb Perfume
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Branding & Package
INSPIRATION: In the basis of this project was a question: What kind of perfume would we definitely buy? The one to stand out against others on the market full of trendy and glossy perfume brands. The one reflecting the man's personality, savage power and courage. We looked around and found a solution right down at our feet. Millions of years ago a man picked up a stone and the stone has changed people's life and the course of civilization. As many times before, nature itself gave us the powerful insight.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Barb is a perfume brand for men whose spirit is eager to break through the concrete walls, whose boundaries are way beyond the whole world. The fragrance of wilderness and roughness against the abundance of the artificial finesse. The brand doesn't use logo in its common sense, for it contradicts the philosophy of free and fearless spirit. Barb doesn't hang tags and doesn't attach anybody to the brand. The man, himself, is the brand. Barb is the absolute extension of it's owner's personality.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Teaser Outdoor Advertisement. First the mysterious floating stones (or any other promo image) appears on the city streets with a slogan "Release your nature" below. Few weeks later billboards are completed with a handwritten Barb calligraphy signs applied directly on its surface and an address leading to the promo-site.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2013 and finished in December 2013.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The flask is made of stone, which symbolizes simplicity, individuality, strength of mind and primal strength. True essence within a decent shape, a form that holds a spirit of its owner. A plastic transparent cube that holds the flask doesn't hide its essence and naturalness, the floating illusion grants the sense of weightlessness.
The rough calligraphy is made with wooden sticks to emphasize the savage nature of Barb.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Studying perfume market and target audience we came to an interesting conclusion: men rarely buy perfume themselves. Most of the men's perfume advertisement appeals to women. This is when we came to the idea of making a truly man's brand appealing directly to lords of creation.
CHALLENGE: The challenge was to create a perfume brand which would stand out against others on the market and to cover most of the brand aspects: philosophy, identity, package, advertising, web-site.
