DESIGN NAME: OGRO
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Door Handle
INSPIRATION: Ogro stands for an almost 150 years long traditional of hadcrafted production.
Seeing the skills of the workfoce casting stainless steel an aluminum impressed me. Establishing a new design language at Dorma at the same time lead me to create this ragne.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The door handle series Ogro 8115 by Dorma shows in an impressive manner how everyday objects can be reinvented without changing their character. Harmonic and clearly defined radii fit in seamlessly in their environmental architecture, ergonomic shapes and surfaces offer a unique haptic experience. The door handle series includes standard-, safety-, pull-handles and door knobs.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The clearly defined radii contrasted with the full radii element make the product more ergonomic. The overall dimension is adapted to the human motion sequences.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design first started with the basic normative handle range in 2013 wich Tatic Design Studio on Mailand. 2014 a whole range of pull handels and handles with internal battaries have been created in 2014 presented and launched at the BAU 2015 in Munic.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Building Materials and Construction Components Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Caused by the handcrafted production of casting, grinding and polishing only the excellent skills of the workers makes the details look harmonic.
Ogro comes in aluminium and stainless steel.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The entire range follow EU-Norms.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: No special tools were used. To proof the ergonomic shape and dimension models have been manufactured at an early stage. In addition one variation includes a battery case for access control.
CHALLENGE: The challenge was to reinvent an everyday object without losing their essential utility. Adding a senseful benefit to the user
