| DESIGN NAME: XXS PRIMARY FUNCTION: Clasp INSPIRATION: Minimalists pendants are so charming, but they need to be wear on nearly unvisible nylon or wire. I did'nt found adapted clasps for so thin nylon or wire, so I designed it. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Extra small and extra simple clasp, wich can be put on very thin nylon or wire or thread by everybody without need of any tool. Especially designed to wear minimalist pendant such as a single pearl or for example the XXS A'Design Award Trophee. This clasp is suitable as well for necklaces as for bracelets. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This clasp, being put by yourself on the link, it allow first to put the pendant on the link and secondly to put the clasp. So, the problem of a clasp to large to allow the threading of a pendant with a little hole is avoid. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Few months in 2011 and 2014. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The original prototype is made with an existing clasp on which some adaptations were done. What is important is to have a small hole by which the link will enter in the clasp, and a cavity where the node can take place and keep together the link and the clasp. (see full explanations and plan on the attached document) SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Size will depend on the link used, smaller for thin link and bigger for thicker links, like leather lace. TAGS: Clasp jewelry adaptable minimalist necklace bracelet pearl bead RESEARCH ABSTRACT: 1) Conceptual research to design the mechanism, 2) Objective : to obtain the most simple mechanism and design to allow to fix a clasp on a link such as nylon without the need of any tool 3) Observation of existing clasps and looking for one model to modify 4) No special tool used CHALLENGE: Production : good industrial production in Italy, but actually evaluated as to much expensive by potential clients. Marketing challenge : the benefits of this product in not on the sale of this clasp but on the sale of precious stones, pearls and pendants which could not be sale without this clasp. NAME: Anne Dumont PROFILE: Anne Dumont is born in 1966 in Brussels/Belgium. She studied engineering and worked in IT and management during 20 years. Doing no research in her job as engineer, and having a passion for jewelry, she decide to start research in jewelry. She is auto-didacte and find that it is what help her to do innovations in jewelry. She has dreams and having no usual knowledge in jewelry to do it, she has to imagine and create her own solutions. It's why her creations are so unusual, the combination of a jewelry passion and a engineer free to create concepts and designs based only on her own logic. |
