RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The starting point for developing Cactus glass was observation on the daily basis, Miguel Silva collecs information from people, animals, objects and interactions, he takes photos, notes and sketches for a future use. Therefore, Miguel Silva spotted a chance of designing an emotional design with the form of a Cactus by doing study forms in clay, hand sketching and 3d software of different kinds of cacti and finally made his mind for the one with the prickly shape, because of its simplicity and texture.
CHALLENGE: The challenge was finding the proper glaze, the reason is because in Mexico there are few ready to use formulas, most of the times it is needed to formulate a local glaze for an specific project, and therefore, this project required several tests to achieve pink, green, red and white colors.
