DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Fuji 70R with console

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Washbasin and console

INSPIRATION:
Fuji was born from an accurate research aimed to the development of a very simple product with an emphasis on detail from which the idea of the central detail arrived.Scarabeo is a company producing high-quality products:our design aims to make it clear at a glance. For this reason we stressed the idea of soft surfaces and tried to look for a characterising graphic element giving strong personality to the sink.A small accessories line complete the offer:console, towel rack, mirror and shelf.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This elegant design creates emotion thanks to the smooth and graphic lines but is at the same time very functional.A careful choice of materials and the precision of the manufacturing process guarantee a high quality product .Ceramic is a low-tech material used as a high-tech one, getting it closer to materials having softer outlines and hiding the drain hole with the ceramic plate. The console in steel bar has been chosen to give the same charm and elegance of the sink and to make the bathroom system cosier we inserted a shelf in wood

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The console table can be used as a support for the basin, as a towel bar and as a countertop for towels or other things.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in July 2013 in Vittorio Veneto and finished in April 2014. It was exhibited in Salone del Mobile in Milan in April 2014.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
the basin is made of ceramic; the console table is made of iron-rod and the shelf of solid wood.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
wash basin: 700 x 430 x 140 console table: 790 x 440 x 750

TAGS:
Hypnotising, Equilibrated, Essential, Pure, Velvety, Functional, Elegant, Protagonist

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
At first we have tried to distinguish the main competitors design language and comparing it with Scarabeo's.So,we have identified the unexplored areas, which the company could work with. The objective was to design a simple yet unusual object, with a light humor and a touch of femininity but without emphasising too much on these characteristics.A traditional methodology was used. After the previous analysis,we started sketching, sketching and sketching.Fuji seemed to be the best solution to overcome where the companies portfolio lacks.

CHALLENGE:
The main issue after the choice of the concept was its development. Because Scarabeo is an artisanal company, the 3D files were not the right format for them. So we had to print the projects and go there to make the first prototype together with the craftsmen, trying to make it more similar to the concept.

NAME:
Scarabeo Ceramiche S.r.l.

PROFILE:
SCARABEO, founded in 1974, initially specialised in the manufacture of porcelain bathroom accessories. In the space of a few years, thanks to its reliability and commitment, the company firmly secured its position in both the national and international markets. The high quality of its products enabled the company to collaborate with some of the most renowned international manufacturers of bathroom fixtures. The constant search for new products has always been a distinguishing feature of the company, which – over the years – has consistently proven its ability to keep track of the evolving demands of the market. This continuous evolution eventually led to the introduction of new washbasin ranges, and the company now offers an extremely broad and ever-expanding range of products. The company’s philosophy is geared towards making the washbasin the focus of the bathroom and dedicating all its energies to creating new ranges and models for satisfying an increasingly demanding market, while putting the emphasis on quality – rather than quantity – and the uniqueness of its products. Emo design (Lukasz Bertoli and Carlo Ciciliot) is comprised of a team of experienced specialists that have gained strong expertise within the creative industry at an international level. The studio develops a variety of projects in different field focusing on a market-oriented approach able to use design research and creative expression as strategic tools for its clients. It works with the potential or existing value system of a company to create solutions aimed accurately at a specific market, allowing the clients to differentiate their offerings from those of their competitors. The approach to each project is driven by in-depth research into the behavior, desires and needs of the final user/consumer.
