| DESIGN NAME: Presnyakov Vodka PRIMARY FUNCTION: Product and Packaging INSPIRATION: The inspiration for the design came from the ideas of mixing the clear look of ice, with the red and iron of Russia. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: When you walk down the liquor isle in a store, vodka dominates a massive section, and it is filled with some of the best bottle designs out there. I designed a bottle that was simple yet elegant, using a modern touch to really make it stand out. I wanted the outer appearance to be strong yet simple in design, while making the inner liquid chamber as if it were ice that melted giving it a wavy appearance. With the added touch of a recessed glass corner that is frosted, light refracts and bounces through the bottle giving it a subtle glint from the ultra clear glass. The addition of red tinted glass makes subtlety of the recessed corner catch consumers attention while not overpowering the design. While the 2mm extruded red glass changes from dark to light depending on the lighting, giving an added effect to highlight the brand name. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The overall design took around 13 months between rough concepts and testing glass types. I exchanged concepts and idea between the brands owners (Igor and Svjatoslav Presnyankov) in Amsterdam, while we are based in the U.S. The product is slated for 2016 launch. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The bottle cap is brushed metal that looks like old Russian Iron. For packaging the exterior was wrapped in Fibermark Touche with red & silver foil stamping, and the interior was printed red. The inner recessed face corner of the bottle is frosted glass and the bottle itself is low iron glass. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 78mm x 78mm x 304mm Each bottle is made from low iron glass to give it a very clear appearance, and stand out from typical glass. The white corner face that is inset was sandblasted, while leaving the tinted red PRESNYAKOV glass text extruded 2mm clear and untouched.
