Easy soup mat

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Thermal insulation and support the soup

INSPIRATION:
When eating at home, sometimes we may use the pot as the vessel for the soup. When there are still some soup left in the pot, but the soup ladle is too thick to collect the soup, people may need help from other people to tilt the pan in order to rise the soup level, so as to use the soup ladle to collect the soup. This mat plays the role of this helper.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
If you are eating alone or eat with several people at home, a helper may obstruct the others from picking up the food, and a helper is needed every time that someone wants to collect the soup, if you pour the soup from the pan to your own bowl directly, it is likely that you may pour the soup on the table. However, the easy soup mat solves these problems, it can support the pan firmly and people can enjoy the soup without disturbing the others.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
It can be used as a normal thermal insulation mat, when it needs to support the pan, replace the pan aside, flip the center up and against one end to the edge, and place the pan onto it.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
Started at the beginning of May in Ningbo, China, and finished on 28th June.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Silicon rubber by injection molding

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Outside measurements: diameter 20cm, rim thickness 2cm, inner surface thickness 0.5cm.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The research process is by experimenting all the time, by making different models and testing them with pan for soup, and the final model is the one with best performance.

CHALLENGE:
The relationship between the supporting structure and the main body of the mat, and how to transform.
