| DESIGN NAME: HOFMANN POWER WEIGHT - SPEEDBOX PRIMARY FUNCTION: Dispensing System INSPIRATION: The inspiration was coming from analyzing the process of applying balancing weights. Through user research and a strong focus on activity centered design, "Speed Box" is truly speeding up the process in applying balancing weights. The design motivation was focused on the pure essential, the dispensing and reducing of malfunctions through complicated and unnecessary mechanics. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Brand "Hofmann Power Weight" by WEGMANN automotive stands for high quality, efficiency and innovation in balancing weights. These Values have been integrated into the new "Speed Box" for the premium market. The "Speed Box" is a completely new approach to the existing products on the market. The innovative design reduces all materials to just 100 percent cardboard, and resigns to all mechanical parts due to a clever folding system (patent pending). It is smart, premium and altogether a highly sustainable solution. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project startet in December 2012 and finished in August 2013. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Lots of mechanical parts, screws and different material mixes were necessary to dispense the weights in previous systems. The clever folding system of the "Speed Box" holds the weights in place and prevents the weights of rolling back into the box. All that with just 100 percent cardboard. The clean outer design has a dynamic and fresh appeal to the product and underlines its values. The inclined corner makes it more ergonomic and gives an easier access to the weights.
