| DESIGN NAME: Less PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sustainable chair INSPIRATION: There are many needs that life relentlessly imposes. Some situations require the maximum. Others ask for nothing more than the essential. Deep consideration on our actual needs was the starting point for the research that led to the definition of this extremely basic eco-friendly chair. As universal as traditional chairs, Less Chair is an anti-diva we may have to look for, but that is never pushy. The Less Chair eschews excess to adjust to all our living, working and shopping spaces. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The base is a careful study on pure form, where the interaction of the elements is followed very closely in order to enhance the functional and material element. In Less Chair the inclined converging lines of the legs firmly support the body of the chair seat made even more comfortable by its rounded functional shapes. The use of wood associated with fully recyclable cardboard creates a play of textures that give Less Chair lightness and a pleasing look. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: With or without armrests, easy to move and stack thanks to its light weight. Made thanks to the contamination of materials. Very easy to assemble and disassemble. Completely separable and practical to store and transport, this chair presents unusual aesthetics, longlasting and completely freed from fashion trends. In the event of damage, Less Chair can easily be repaired, thanks to its spare parts. Completely disassembled, its components get recycled or sent to separate garbage disposal. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Less Chair is created from the assembly of simple easily produced elements. According to the project, the materials used are all natural and recyclable. The manufacturing process requires simple machines with no need for the large upfront investments involved in the use of moulds and moulding machines. The production has extremely low environmental impact. The assembly phase is manual. All production processes are allocated in the same area. Less Chair is produced by a FSC certified factory. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Less chair is made of natural material such as wood (oak and teak) associated with fully recyclable cardboard. Designed to have many functions and adapt to all needs, Less Chair is projected to follow the modern society in its continuous changing and it is ideal for all spaces (e.g., houses, offices, restaurants, bars, museums). Aesthetic refinement and environmental compatibility find a meeting point. CHALLENGE: The challenge was to obtain the maximum from the minimum. Less energy, less material and an essential look are main features of this chair designed to enhance sensoriality, functionality, charm and strength of natural materials such as cardboard and wood putting them together in a harmonious way.
