| DESIGN NAME: Shark Line 46 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pleasure Boat (Yacht) INSPIRATION: The clean design is inspired by nature and more precisely the shark. By using an abstract concept, the slim outline between the fin and body of shark guide us through the whole yacht design. Comparing to the traditional bionic design skills, Shark Line 46 evade the over specific design language. Shark’s hunting process, killing speed and the mystery of waiting its prey transparency to the sharp line and match to the metal silver and black. Shark Line 46 represents a cool and fashion image whether it is sailing or at anchor. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: TBDC would like to popularize the pleasure yacht activity through merging the famous shipbuilding technology in Taiwan and our professional industry, product and interior design abilities. Our team selected an on-sale and well-state of sailing yacht hull structure, and mainly remodeled its overall style as the first concern. Thus this design could be mass produced efficiently without any worry of sailing operation, which is a great achievement to the global shipbuilding industry. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Spacious sun deck, open windows and large areas of the salon allow people to fully enjoy the space sunlight; the kitchen set which is located at the poop provides a smooth and comfortable circulation just like at home. There are two bedrooms and a standard set of bathroom in the interior space. By traditional wooden craft method, the interior design could fulfill various custom needs. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in July, 2013 and collaborated with an international well-known shipbuilding company which is famous by its traditional craft method. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The interior space is built through wooden hand-made craft which is like antique car manufacturing methods. Also the strength of the hull is enhanced as using FRP composite manufacturing process. Taking the advantage of 50 years more history of Taiwan shipbuilding industry, this design would be completed by the integrated up and down stream chain system and resulted in an incredibly cost down. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Length overall 46 ft / Hull beam 4.3 m / Max speed 33 nds TAGS: Pleasure yacht, Shark, Innovation, Coo and fashion RESEARCH ABSTRACT: TBDC observed nature and took its advantages. This design combined the slim shape element and the shipbuilding expertise in Taiwan. Therefore Shark Line 46 could retains the beauty appearance and be mass-produced efficiently at the same time. CHALLENGE: It was a big challenge to create ideal shape and spacious interior design without too many changes of the hull since this may damage its original balance. Many of our clients are public figures. TBDC have won many international design competitions and attended lots of exhibitions. Also TBDC is the first company in Taiwan to get the Red Dot Design Award (2007) and be invited to become a German iF (International Forum Design) member then. 2010 American Interior Design Magazine of 《the annual interior design enterprises》,《the annual best interior design companies in China》made TBDC only winner in Taiwan. |
