DESIGN NAME: Hounds-Tooth Table.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Console table
INSPIRATION: Designing is an intriguing process, which comprises of a sequence of steps. While designing this unique console table, inspiration was derived from the fascinating pattern of a houndtooth. Re-interpretation of the iconic hound's-tooth pattern, that has graced both men and women apparel for centuries now, into an evolved and diverse role marked the initiation of this idea.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Well casted 14 angular points of the table enhance the artistic value of its design. Every tip of the curve is a transitional flow that leads to the next, divulging a sculptural yet recognizable silhouette. Base of this table is armored, making it all the more capable of withstanding the weight of the extended, non-supported angle.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This angular yet hefty and well-balanced table is distinctive in its design. Its characteristic of being light-weight, and also double duty as coffee table make it unique to cater to array of needs, and augment the exquisiteness of any space.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2013 and ended in May 2014 in the City of Baltimore Maryland.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I’m always fascinated with shape and patterns. One of the most interesting one to me was hound’s-tooth pattern. I began my research by creating 3 dimensional image using computer aided software. To have the feel of the angles and structure I created a 6 by 12 inches prototype using softwood. The prototype helps me realize that I will have to slightly reinforce the base in order to maintain functionality of the structure.
CHALLENGE: One of the challenges was making the base strong enough to carry the extended length. The second challenge was being able to achieve a maximum angle precision.
