| DESIGN NAME: "Love makes the world go round" PRIMARY FUNCTION: Jewellery INSPIRATION: Love makes the world go round and the world’s first Love story are the two main inspirations behind this piece. There are three small hoops on top of the ring forming a Serpent. The hoops turn and spin around a diamond simulating the movements of a snake but also a metaphor for the world going around. When the hoops stop turning they come together like pieces of a puzzle and form the story of Adam & Eve and the forbidden fruit. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a bespoke wedding ring. It is not just a simple band but the story of world’s first lovers. A reminder of love and the sacrifices made by lovers whether right or wrong. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: There are three small hoops on top of the ring forming a Serpent, turning and spinning around a diamond which simulate the movements of a snake. These rings and their movement are a metaphor for the world going around. When the hoops stop turning, they come together forming a small puzzle, showing Adam & Eve reaching for the forbidden fruit. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This piece took almost 1 year from design to production. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: 18 Karat Gold, Diamond, Ruby. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Size 7.5 Wedding ring. TAGS: Jewellery, Ring, Bespoke, Adam & Eve, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The inspiration for this costume made wedding ring, came from the famous quote, Love makes the world go round and the world’s first Love story (the story of Adam & Eve and the forbidden fruit). This is a very literal take on the story. The three small hoops on top of the ring forming a Serpent turn and spin around a diamond (simulating the movements of a snake) is a metaphor for the world going around. When the hoops stop turning, they come together forming the story of Adam & Eve reaching for the forbidden fruit. CHALLENGE: The moving hoops on top of the ring was the biggest challenge in the making of this piece.
