| DESIGN NAME: Buckets of Love PRIMARY FUNCTION: Logo Design INSPIRATION: For a nominal sum, people can donate a bucket that contains the necessary food items like oil, rice and food to the needy in villages. Because the project name is Buckets of Love, it was filled with a lot of happy emotions: hearts. By doing so it shows a shower of love, where there is something to smile about. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The graphic here plays with the interaction between both the giver and the receiver; where happiness is depicted in both ways. By donating love, there are no returns, it represents the gift of goodwill. To pour out hearts that brings joy gives this logo more soul and interaction with that feel good factor. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Touches the hearts of the needy by giving them the gift of love. Instead of featuring hands receiving, the gestures of someone pouring the gift of love is shown. An inverted bucket with a smiling face providing love to the needy through the bucket signifies how a little donation can go a long way to making the needy something to smile about. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in Nov 2013 and finished in Feb 2014. It was used in the Alma Cafe from Feb 2014 onwards. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Social Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: - SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The logo measures 200mm x 103mm and it can be used at a minimum size of 52mm x 27mm. TAGS: #bucketsoflove RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: To feature the things in the bucket was not an easy task. It would be too much for the audience to decipher and it would be much too boring. Furthermore if there would be a change for the items, the logo would be easily outdated. To make it work in the emotional sector, it was important to touch the hearts of the donor. Different sketches and ideas were experimented before deciding that it was most ideal to show the bucket pouring. A simple and nice touch to show the visual of shower. Adding the hearts added another dimension and the final touch of a smiling face shows sincerity. NAME: Alma Café (Phnom Penh) PROFILE: We pay for the actual Bucket from Alma's (a cafe set up to empower and transform the lives of the local Cambodian people -rescuing people from the sex trade as well as other local Cambodians and giving them a new means of living) profits and then we collected money to buy the items which go inside. It is Rice, Oil, Tea, Sugar, canned Fish, Fish Sauce, Canned Milk, coffee, Shampoo and Soap. ( The coffee, soap and Shampoo are all comprised of donated small size hotel bottles and Bars as well as single size 3 in one coffee powders) 'Buckets of love', Cambodia, Oct 2013 (done) We did the last wave of Buckets of Love to a place where Yamel, a missionary from Mexico, has been ministering. It is all Ethnic Vietnamese who have lived for generations in Cambodia but they are minorities who live in the margin and are not given any rights. They can't vote, own property or get diplomas. When the children do get to go to school they are not permitted to wear a uniform and they are not allowed to graduate. We are doing weekly projects for them and next we will be blessing them with water filters so that they may have the power to have portable water for their families. |
