DESIGN NAME:
METAXA DEEPER ROOTS
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Packaging Design
INSPIRATION:
The deep Aegean blue on the sleeve brings to mind the Sea and its breezes that keep the Muscat vineyards healthy, by ensuring cool temperatures even in the hottest months of summer.
It is thanks to this breeze that grapes grow beautifully to give birth to low yields of incomparable aromatic character.
The grapes and vines are pictured in a warm gold that hints to the precious nature of Muscat.
METAXA chooses for its blends Muscat grapes that are tended and harvested by hand from small terrace vineyards, the size of gardens.
The House emblem of the Salamina Warrior and the foundation year 1888, are centrally positioned in this design. The vines grow around them and hug them gently.
On the back of the bottle, the METAXA vertical logo is left transparent to allow the precious amber liquid to be seen through the sleeve.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
In the world of spirits, METAXA is celebrated as the smoothest spirit under the Sun.
Its smoothness takes its roots in the islands of the Aegean Sea in Greece, and more specifically in the Muscat grapes grown on these islands.
To pay tribute to these roots, the House of Metaxa introduces METAXA Deeper Roots, a limited-edition bottle of METAXA 5 Stars 1L, dressed in a stunning gold and blue sleeve, on which the design of the Muscat vine intertwines organically with all the codes of the METAXA signature.
This Collector’s Edition is destined to collectors and gift-givers, and serves with taste and efficacy to communicate the depth and richness of the roots of the METAXA without the need of words.
METAXA Deeper Roots conveys the Roots message & the link of METAXA to the Muscat grapes, without the need of laborious texts in various languages.
It delivers the Limited Edition look and feel and increases gifting and perceived value
It does away with the need for a carton gift box, the volume, weight, energy and tree-consumption associated with it. The gifting proposition is instead supported by a thin film, weighing a fraction of a gram.
It combines the advantages of a naked bottle and a gifting pack as it allows for the amber liquid to be seen through the sleeve, through the transparent vertical logo on the bottle.
