DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
SCRIPT

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Clock

INSPIRATION:
Script offers a new way of displaying time. Since the 1970’s the seven segment display has been the standard choice for almost any electrical product that displays numbers, from calculators and digital clocks to washing machines and ovens. It’s a simple and efficient technical solution, but lacks the elegance of a beautiful typeface. The Script font shares the same principle of a segmented display, but rearranges the segments to create an entirely new digital typeface, giving the numbers a flowing, more human quality. The large display is framed by a simple case in black or white with a soft pillowed reverse, creating a strikingly thin and elegant form. There are no other features or markings to detract from the Script font and the clock also displays seconds, allowing users to appreciate the graceful transition from one number to the next. The clock’s reverse has three flush buttons to set the time and holes for hanging. Alternatively it can be placed on a table or desk using a removable stand stored in the battery compartment. The Script range also includes an alarm clock and wrist watch.

NAME:
LEXON

PROFILE:
Since 1991, Lexon has established a granted relationship with Creativity. In nineteen years of development and with no compromises, Lexon has remained faithful to its design commitments. Electronics, luggage, travel, office and leisure accessories: this direction is not measured in figures. Sensitivity is its dimension. And above all, it is about making an object enjoyable for its daily use. The intimacy that Lexon maintains with its accomplishments is also the one that Lexon casts on you: friendly objects for friendly users. Diversity of technology and material, great signatures and inspiration, they all belong to a great family: senior and young designers meet at last. The marvellous alchemy from blanding generations gives us what we dream of. Every year, fifty-five countries and museums of Modern Art throughout the world reinforce our insight. In 2014, Lexon is more than ever a universally contemporary brand: with its time, here and now. Born in 1953, the founder of Lexon has always shown a passion for the objects, and his design education came from the long experience and the numerous contacts with the designers worldwide. The envy to create and make things exist from a simple idea comes from a pure feeling and fun. « I really enjoy to start from a single white page of paper and see the products being used in so many different places in the world, being a small part of people’s life, and sometimes winning awards and being selected by prestigious Museums ». All of Lexon products answer to a shared central perspective: a design foreseen as deeply rooted in life. Lexon’s creations are born out of users’ requirements. They answer to needs: being useful, efficient for the one that travel or organizes his working space, his home environment. Creations that anticipate desires and expectations, taking part in a carefully set emotional sphere, a material and sensitive setting. Designed with pleasure, in order to generate a distinctive fever to alter our everyday surroundings. Lexon products follow a dream, though maintain an attention to use and service. Design in Life: Lexon lays stress on an aspect that should go without further saying - design that keeps its feet on the ground, though always look behind the horizon line.
