| DESIGN NAME: Swallowtail necklace PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pendant ( Necklace) INSPIRATION: The pendant was inspired by Swallowtails who are large, colorful butterflies. Swallowtail butterflies are one of the most beautiful of all butterflies The eye catching design of the Swallowtail pendant is the result of the synchronicity of the swallowtail wings. The pure perfection of the simplicity of the beautiful lines, as of the silhouette of the Swallowtail butterfly lined and accented with the brilliant shin of the orange sapphires and diamonds, which is balanced with the use of organic and geometric shapes without sacrificing the beauty of the Swallowtail butterfly. The design adds something more elegant to a classic inspired form, and makes it the perfect thing to wear with a elegant evening dress or outfit. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The pendant is 38mm long by 10mm wide and is made in 18K Yellow Gold with Orange Sapphires and diamonds. With a 18in 14K Yellow Gold Rolo Chain OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This necklace can be operated like any other necklace PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This ring designed in sepember 2013 and redesigned and edited in October 2013 , designing and editing this model takes over 35 working hours |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The necklace was designed, using Matrix CAD rendering and then printed using a CPX Printing was machine. Once the wax was printed we used a lost wax casting method to cast the wax into 18K gold. Cleaning and polishing the hollow parts inside the wings is time consuming and requires care since it will be showing, but well worth the effort. After the parts are completed, a laser welder is used in the next phase of the ring.. The utmost care is needed in order not to damage the previous steps of the work already done.Then all the pieces where brought to a high polish finish. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The 18K Yellow Gold pendant weighs approximately 10 grams The rolo 14K Yellow Gold chain weighs approximately 5grams The Pendant Uses Bright Orange Sapphires and Diamonds The Pendant uses round faceted bright Orange sapphires total weight 3.12cts 15- 1.8mm 9- 2mm 10-2.3mm 2-2.5mm 5-2.8mm 1-3mm 1-6.5mm The Pendant uses round bright round cut VS2 quality diamonds- 42 pieces with a .50 total ct weigh 14- 1mm 6-1.2mm 16-1.3mm 4-1.5mm 2-1.8mm TAGS: Swallowtail, butterfly, necklace, takayas custom jewelry , 18K yellow gold, orange sapphires, elegant necklace RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research was Searching in Nature of swallowtails life, How butterflies movements and function, and how it could turn to a jewelry to represent them as well as create a eye catching design that grabs your attention like a real swallow tail does. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge during making this design is how to design something which would look just like a butterfly and which could be produced with 3D printers without no problem, so it was solved after a hard working on the process of CAD/CAM and working a lot with T-Splain, also trying to create invisible settings with in the wings of the butterfly.
