| DESIGN NAME: Ametis PRIMARY FUNCTION: Shower System INSPIRATION: Drawing inspiration from experiences that combine the density of water and its colors, the movement of waves, and the experience of exquisite Japanese writing and ribbon ondulations - Ametis transforms water, such a precious matter, into a hymn to purity, one that enables you to move closer to the expression of the soul. Featuring fluid and sensuous curves, Ametis provides a visual representation of the idea that life is a cycle. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Ametis; a symbol of the fusion between the universe above and the oceans below, is a futuristic ode to high design in the bathroom. The shower column, containing many high-tech engineering features, integrates a chromotherapy system with RGB LED lighting within the ring that gives a completely new dimension to the column, thanks to the indirect lighting, still a little used concept in bathroom design. This creates a soothing halo effect for the desired ambiance. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Each of the four functions of the Ametis, two shower flow settings, handshower and body sprays, easily turns on with their own handle. The 6-color LED controller lets the user effortlessly choose their mood or chroma. The color green induces healing, yellow for hope and optimism, blue for serenity, and red for joy. The theory behind the healing properties of chromotherapy is that it can lead to a good night’s sleep, a more positive outlook on life and a complete feeling of tranquility. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2009 in Geneva, Switzerland and due to the complexity of the multifunctional shower column the product development required 3 years. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Made with brass and stainless steel, Ametis is available in chrome, architectural black and architectural white finishes offering designers a variety of choices for the bath space. The highly resistant coating of the finishes defines the shapes and curves of Ametis. The shower system also comes with a partially pre-plumbed unit for easy installation. With LED lights reflecting off the ceiling, Ametis includes an LED controller to adjust the colors and settings. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Ametis shower system features a 6-color LED chromotherapy lighting system, dual-function showerhead with waterfall and rain shower settings, four body sprays and 1499mm handshower set with wall bracket. Flow rates: rain shower 2.5 gpm, waterfall 2.5 gpm, handshower 2.5 gpm, body sprays 2.5 gpm. Dimensions: Width 431mm x Depth 549mm x Height 1740mm. Ametis was specifically designed with sustainability and innovation in mind. Users continue to express a desire for new technology. Ametis offers an LED lighting system to elicit different moods depending on how the user is feeling. The creative process started with freehand drawing research. Then, 3D modeling provided real-world solutions for shape and volume. CHALLENGE: The most challenging part of this design was creating unique objects that unveil the deep link between the being and the nature surrounding us. These relationships give the true basis and creativity for developing innovation, aesthetics and technology. Conveying the emotions that are inscribed in the matter is a lively vibration worth seizing in any moment.
