| DESIGN NAME: Eatzi Cafe Around-the-Clock Restaurant PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hotel Restaurant INSPIRATION: The designer uses a lot of natural woods as well as waterlines elements, integrating with the modern Southeast Asian style, to deliver to the guests a feeling of tranquility and liveliness. The designer wishes to be expressive in a subtle way in this design project and create inclusive harmony among distinctive features and styles. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Themed around water, the restaurant has a 2-level void structure, with the void being filled up with the lake view. In this way, the expanse of surrounding space looks very striking; one can feast on the beautiful lake view in a plain glance. The interior of the restaurant mainly uses wooden fitment. Its luminous wall tops provide a plentitude of lighting. The ceiling is a mirror etched with classic patterns. The metal mosaic patterns and colored glass stone on the wall, so tellingly and breathing, invigorate the atmosphere in the restaurant. The tropical rain forest marbles of the table tops echoes with the annual rings of the wood on long table, plus the wooden dinner tables, imbue the whole restaurant with original natural scenery. Carved wall stones with rippling water patterns join the lobby with the restaurant storey, unifying the interior and exterior environment and appearing to be natural yet harmonious. The S-shape comfortable seats highlight the space in the restaurant, linking up the art of water. Specially designed balcony provides a bird's view of the lake. You’ll feel so relaxed and pleasant as if you were right on the peaceful lake surface. The diversified food, combined with the great lake view, evokes a feel of expanse and enjoyment inspired by the nature. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The designer adopted high criteria for every single detail. To best collaborate the client and the management company, there was close monitoring of the construction site real-time to make sure the project was on the right track. With respect to the choice of features and materials for the design and furnishings, the designer took into account of being sustainable and environmentally-frie PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was initiated in February 2010 and completed in July 2011 in Qiandao Lake, Hangzhou. Though with tight schedule for concept brewing, layout planning to artifacts display, the designer’s passion for design and touching the heart of the guests in the restaurant enabled the successful conclusion of the project within a short lead time. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The restaurant mainly uses wooden fitment, and its 2.6 meters luminous wall tops provide a plentitude of lighting. The S-shape comfortable seats highlight the space in the restaurant, linking up the water theme. The restaurant design is aimed at boasting local cultural characteristics with contemporary touch. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Eatzi Cafe Around-the-Clock Restaurant is located on the basement level II of the Hilton Hangzhou Qiandao Lake Resort. With an area space of 1190 sq.m., the restaurant has a 2-level void structure. The restaurant has a view overlaking the lake. TAGS: Water theme，wooden fitment, natural materials， leisure restaurant space RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The designer incorporates his years of exposure to Asian and Western cultures into building up the modern Southeast Asian and the local original ecology elements in the design concept.
