DESIGN NAME: CYFER
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hi-Tech Retail Store
INSPIRATION: Retail space interiors in the future as in the present should be designed in a way that promotes an enjoyable shopping experience and tailored to the type of product being sold. Some products require more customer interaction than others such as hi-tech products which needs to be integrated in the design. This design concept attempts to develop a design theme for a hi-tech store in the future where the combined objectives of the design could be optimized.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design is based in all its features on the QR code, which is the recent and future identification of products, companies, identities. Minimalist in nature, design elements from flooring, ceilings, furnishing and lightening come together to form a smoothly flowing environment emphasizing the power of the product expected in the future. The customer’s perception is uninterrupted by irrelevant obstructions heightening the level of enjoyment and enhancing the desire to interact with the products
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The project design is a dialogue between the product and the space's interior and exterior design. The space's exterior design is all glass drawing the people's eyes to the interior design and products.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project duration was three months starting November 2013 and ending January 2014.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design layout and elements are based on the black and white color scheme and pattern of the QR code that is embodied in the flooring and mirrored in the ceiling. Counters ,seating and lighting evolve from the flooring and ceiling as a natural protruding aspect of the overall pattern. Furniture would be minimal to balance interaction with freedom of movement. The space would have glass partitions and exterior walls to attract and invite people to the interior with unobtrusively placed multi-touch screens and holograms at focal points.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: One floor with a total area of 200 sqm. The design material specifications include black and white ceramic floor tiles and alucobond white paneled ceilings with protruding pendant lighting squares made of Plexiglas sheets. The materials for the counters and seating are fiber glass while exterior and partitions made of glass.
