DESIGN NAME: Amandines Biscuits Packaging
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Product-Packaging Integration
INSPIRATION: The inspiration was the French bakery in Helsinki that produced the amandines biscuit and all things French. As specialist packaging design we are always inspired about doing a lot with a little.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The packaging has enabled the simple Amandines biscuit to be considered as a premium proposition. The brief was to use standard materials and keep to a reasonable budget but to create something that people have not seen before. The simple effective use of carton material has enabled the product to be merchandised in three different ways 1. to stand upright and proud for the retail environments 2. to stand on its side to be slightly more submissive in smaller retail environments 3. to lay naturally on its back on table ready to be shared.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The teams research predominantly focuses on production, packing and the retail environment - prototyping and testing was the foundation of the project and allowed us to improve on many aspects of the business for the customer. The methods were mainly observational ethnographic, prototyping and testing.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenges was bringing the new product and packaging together. There were many prototyping rounds to make sure the packaging would be flexible enough support all the inconsistencies in the product. We also optimised the production of the product, enabled it to be packed quicker and made sure it fitted all distribution channels.
