| DESIGN NAME: VOLCANO PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sitting furniture INSPIRATION: The powerful features of the volcano brought me to design a furniture that allows various forms for sitting and lying. Volcanic eruption is a process in which the magma break through cracks in the earth crust and reach the surface - a mesmerizing natural phenomenon, intriguing and spectacular. The hot eruptive lava gets cold when contacting the air, than hardens and changes color and texture in the process. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The volcano is a furniture that was built from round wooden surface with holes, which soft tubes pass to create the experience of the sitting. The tubes fit themselves to you during the sitting and you can use them in several uses for your convenience. In fact, I've created piece of furniture that imposing it's presence in any space, can be positioned in various poses in order to sit or lie, alone, or in a couple or with a group of friends nestling in it . OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The tubes fit themselves to you during the sitting and you can use them in several uses for your convenience. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Basis - a plywood surface covered with Formica within 24 holes. 24 soft tubes pass through the holes to create the experience of the sitting. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Basis - 60 cm diameter - with 24 holes of 5.5 cm. 24 fabric tubes filled with styrofoam - 2 meter length, diameter 5.5 cm . Washable. TAGS: VOLCANO, Sitting, Lying, Furniture RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The powerful features of the volcano brought me to design a furniture that allows various forms for sitting and lying. CHALLENGE: The hardest part was to find the tubes material that will be comfortable for sitting and lying.
