PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Lamp

INSPIRATION:
The inspiration for this product came from the theatre reflectors and the way they underline or simply illuminate certain stage areas. We also tried to experiment with a very simple outward shape that would create a complex illuminating process. To make a product with clean and simple lines that would contrast with very dynamic lighting effects.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Axteroid is a versatile lighting product due to the fact that it can be used as a ceiling lamp or as a floor lamp. This multiple usage and adaptation is possible because of it's inventive shape wich guides the light in five focus points and, when used on the floor, makes use of two optimal illuminating angles. The lamp is designed to illuminate on specific points, thus creating strong shades and well defined areas of light. The outcome is a scenographic light setting in any interior they are placed.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The lamp can have two destinations, as floor lamp or as ceilling lamp. In both cases it is operated like any normal lighting system, but it cannot be expected to act as general lighting in any space, except when used in illuminaing fixtures and networks. The lamp is designed so that no matter what type or shape of bulb is used he will allways be at crossroads of the lamp's volumes assureing that light will be dispersed in all the directions it was ment for.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The product was developed during february - july 2011 and it has been curated and exhibited at: -Mikser Design Festival held in Belgrade, 2011. -Zvod Big Liubliana within the Month of Design held in Slovenia , 2011. -Design Made in Romania Exhibition held at Reader’s Caffe, 2011. -Design Romanesc de Produs exhibitions, powerd by Bucharest Design Center, 7 November – 2 December 2012.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Axteroid is made from brass, if there will be no paint overcoat, or from aluminium in purpose that it will be painted. Production starts with routing the unfolded elements and folding them afterwards on wood stencils. The shapes are tinned to stay in place. The lamp uses one light bulb, placed at the intersection of all the light guiding elements.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
