| DESIGN NAME: Duna Loungechair PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lounge Chair INSPIRATION: Dunes, organic shape, Duna, areia, sand. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Designed after the organic profile of dunes surrounding Natal, the armchair is made of certified wood, finished with freijó, a typically Brazilian wood which also casts colour variances of regional sands. Aside from being light, this sculptural piece allies technology and art. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Created in Natal, Brazil in May 2013. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The whole structure was created in plywood, cut in a bidimensional CNC. There are 60 parts isolated that combined creates the lounge chair. NAME: Mula Preta Design Studio PROFILE: Mula Preta Design Studio was created in 2012 by architect Felipe Bezerra (1970) and designer Andre Gurgel (1988), in Natal, Brazil, and since then, they´ve been rewarded with several awards such as the Platinum A'Design Award, achieved in 2012 with the Fluens icon, and the Silver A'Design Award, achieved in 2013 with the Centopeia bench, among others obtained in Milan. In September 2013, Paris Design Week received them for the first time, at Joseph Gallery collective exhibition, at the Marais. |
