| DESIGN NAME: KRYSTAL Nature’s Alkaline Water PRIMARY FUNCTION: Packaging INSPIRATION: Inspired by pureness, KRYSTAL water is a gift from our mother earth; our design is intended to return nature’s bountiful favor by minimizing impact on the environment. With its water sourced from the pristine Lesser Khingan Mountains on the Chinese-Siberian frontier, KRYSTAL team decided to adapt a logo that resembles a Chinese red-ink stamp to manifest its image as a Water from the East. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: KRYSTAL water epitomizes the essence of luxury and wellness in a bottle. Featuring an alkaline pH value of 8 to 8.8 and a unique mineral composition, KRYSTAL water comes in an iconic square transparent prism bottle which resembles a sparkling crystal, and does not compromise on quality and purity. The KRYSTAL brand logo is subtly featured on the bottle, accentuating an added touch of the luxury experience. In addition to the visual impact of the bottle, the square-shaped PET and glass bottles are recyclable, optimizing packaging space and materials, which helps lower the overall carbon footprint. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The square-shaped PET and glass bottles of KRYSTAL Nature’s Alkaline Water are recyclable. The design optimizes packaging space and materials, which helps lower the overall carbon footprint. KRYSTAL's bottles are paintable. Artists can draw on them and donate the artworks for charity purposes. Also, imagine the confusion of whose bottle is whose at a party. KRYSTAL's considering security label design allows people to mark their own bottle to avoid confusion, or the wastage of buying a new one. The handy 380ml and 580ml PET bottles are good for trendsetters who like to carry the bottles with them, while the elegant 250ml and 750ml glass bottles are perfect for high-end restaurants and luxurious home adornment. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in [time] and finished in [time] in Hong Kong. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: - SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The dimension of KRYSTAL bottles are as followed (excluding cap) – 250ml glass bottle: 54.5mm x 54.5 mm x 157.5mm; 750ml glass bottle: 69mm x 69mm x 257mm; 380ml PET bottle: 54.5mm x 54.5mm x 174mm; 580ml PET bottle: 62.7mm x 62.7mm x 195.6mm. The PMMA cap size is 50.01mm (diameter) x 49.50mm (height). TAGS: PET, Glass, bottle, PET bottle, Glass bottle, Water, Water bottle, packaging RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: It was not easy to create a square-shaped bottle. Our team did numerous modification on the bottle pre-foam and did a lot trial-and-error research before we successfully created the ideal bottle.
