DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Washbasin "Angle"

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Washbasin

INSPIRATION:
There are a lot of invented washbasins with excellent design today. But, our conception is to rethink the design of this article of daily use. We want to show only beautiful and comfortable design, and hide such an inherent, but all the same unaesthetic element as drain hole, providing all possible features and thinking through the cleaning system.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The washbasin "Angle" is designed so that when we use it, it looks like the water as if dissolved in the sink. This effect is created through the using of a peculiar location of the edges of the washbasin, similar to device an optical illusion. The basic specs: - New design; - New hidden drain system (the drain hole is out of user's view); - Material: composite, acrylic based; - The drain hole is closed by the decorative plate, which opens by clicking on it.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
This is concise and user-friendly design without unnecessary elements, allows you to enjoy the process of using without looking at the drain.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project was invented in 2011.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The method of production is industrial. There is a casting of composite material - artificial stone, with acryl and mineral pigment - a quartz crumb.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
L 900mm x B 400mm x H 100mm

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
We have done research work about what people would like to see the washbasin. And we found that many perceive the bathroom as a place for relaxation, and there was nothing to irritate the eyes and cause an unpleasant emotions. In particular, many answered that they would rather see the washbasin concise, without unnecessary details and such delicate place as a drain hole generally would prefer not to notice at all, but this is not possible. Then we set a task to solve this unsolvable question.

CHALLENGE:
The main task was to get away from the classical approach and offer a new vision of such better known object, like a washbasin. The difficulty was to find a trick to make invisible the element which is an integral part of all washbasins - the drain hole.
