DESIGN NAME: Piano
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Design Switch
INSPIRATION: Questions answered by our designer, David Dos Santos (Belgium, Antwerp).
How do you start to develop the successor of the price winning Lithoss design switch?
David : Lithoss customers are very demanding. The second range of Lithoss switches could and should not be the ‘little brother’ of the current range. For the Piano we wanted to create a new visual concept. As the switch has been
designed without a visual mounting frame you can mount the switches continuously vertically as well as horizontally (if you do this you create the Piano effect). Of course we maintain the basic elements of the Lithoss concept: quality material, high end finishing, functionality and shape. This brought us to the essence of the switch. Piano means flat in Italian which is a nice connotation for
a switch. On top of that does the Piano make you think of nice materials, beautiful finishing and a harmony. You can’t keep your fi ngers of this switch!
Where did you get your inspiration?
David : I took most of my inspiration out of architecture and photography for this particular job. I prefer not to look at other products which helps me to stay innovative.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: After an intense process of brainstorming, developing and hard work, Belgian design company Lithoss is proud to officially present a complete new range of Designed Switches: PIANO. A switch in the house is usually not considered as important in an interior design. But if you take a look at the PIANO switch, Lithoss is pretty sure you will agree that this switch provides beautiful and futuristic décor to any room. It’s been designed to look like soft piano keys you want to touch. The PIANO is frameless, minimalistic, futuristic and simple.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It's user friendly to install due to a removable double connector
