| DESIGN NAME: GRIP Torch PRIMARY FUNCTION: LED Hand Torch INSPIRATION: Grip Torch is inspired by the form of the BMX bicycle grip. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Drawing direct reference to the familiar form of the BMX bicycle grip. By the very nature of the material - silicon rubber, it provides a practical, simple, tactile solution to the project. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The GRIP Torch has a beautiful design inspired by a BMX bicycle grip. The on/off button is hidden at the end of the torch and just simple press it for on and off. It also provide a good hand feeling when holding the torch. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2012 and finished in October 2012. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The torch body is done by silicon rubber over mould metal tube. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: GRIP Torch is using a super bright LED and operated by 1pc AA battery. Size : 150mm (H) x 90mm; each piece to be packed into a brown corrugated box and a colorful paper sleeve. TAGS: GRIP; BMX Grip RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: The body construction of Grip torch is done by silicon rubber over mould on the metal tube. The challenging is giving stable production for two different material joint into a piece. The accuracy of the tooling and skillful workmanship are required.
