Paper plates are very wasteful and are often thrown away after one use, while the plate is still in a good condition.
However, only the top layer is really spoiled by the food, yet once used, the plate is entirely tossed away.
How can we minimize dishes after picnics, office parties, or while camping, yet feel good about contributing to the environment?!
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
A biodegradable paper plate with a unique construction
of individual layers pressed together. It allows the user to peel off
the used upper layer, revealing a clean plate underneath.
It lasts for up to 10 uses.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Use the upper layer of the plate, once you're done, peel it off and you have a fresh plate underneath!

The concept of “peeling” off only the layer we have used has the potential to give birth to a wide range of disposable products beyond paper plates; giving consumers a new perspective on product consumption and ultimately changing behaviour, to a greener, more environmentally conscious society. By truly using up products to their fullest potential, learning to only use what we need, and saving for later, that is a powerful way of life to teach the next generation.
Making a convenient disposable product also green without changing consumer behavior, but by instilling a new idea into that behavior; peeling and disposing only what you have used!
