DESIGN NAME: Shoe Class
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sneaker store
INSPIRATION: The inspiration came from the store space's existing floor tiles, which reminded us of our old classroom. So we used old school furniture as display and shop fitting structures. Climbing frames from gym class with simple shelves with hooks create a flexible and creative wall system. The classroom desks, with original Tipp-Ex and marker tags, serve as displays for oldskool sneakers and upstairs, in the skate section of the shop, flasks from chemistry class make for great heads for caps.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Pinkeye was asked to convert an existing but worn down store space into a hip ‘talk of the town’ sneaker store, on a shoestring - no pun intended. We came up with the idea of the typical classroom as a setting for trés cool sneakers, and as luck would have it we stumbled upon an abandoned school building that was selling off it’s old class and gym furniture for nickels and dimes.

CHALLENGE: The real challenge was the budget. Luckily we found an old school that had to close its doors, so we could take their classic furniture.
