PRIMARY FUNCTION:
3-in-1 portable Bluetooth® Speaker
INSPIRATION:
After the successful launch of the award-winning Honeycomb our first wireless speaker designed by Michael Young in 2010, we started to work on different concepts around the audio world. Switch is our latest development.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Native Union’s SWITCH is a powerful, portable Bluetooth® speaker, conference call unit and mobile powerbank. Its simple design allows it to be used in a vertical or horizontal position, with an intuitive volume wheel design that channels the retro-but-modern feel Native Union is known for. SWITCH is perfect for anyone who uses a mobile device for conference calls and enjoying music and movies. SWITCH provides 14 hours of audio playback time with crystal clear sound and has a powerful 1800mAh battery that allows it to function as a power bank for USB-enabled mobile devices.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
SWITCH is manufactured in our modern ISO workshop using the latest SMT, Plastic injection and finishing techniques to ensure durability and reliability. Each SWITCH is assembled by hand and 100% tested and inspected to meet our high standards, and the audio quality is measured in an anechoic chamber with a spectrum analyzer, to ensure each unit produces the identical sound SWITCH is recognized for. Finally Switch is placed in high quality; durable packaging to make sure it reaches our customer in perfect condition

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Developed by Native Union Design Lab in conjunction with acoustic engineers to ensure powerful sound, thanks to three speakers including an active sub-woofer.
CHALLENGE:
Our approach on this project was to hide all the
technology in a very minimal and geometric shape.
A very important part of our design ethos at Native
Union is to make the product more accessible and
attractive breaking the barrier between technology and
style.
