DESIGN NAME: Ballo
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Portable Speaker
INSPIRATION: Inspired by an old microphone we tried to completely rethink the shape of a speaker. So the speaker‘s shape is a perfect sphere with no actual stand. The BALLO speaker lays, rolls or hangs for a 360 degree music experience.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A colorful belt fuses two hemispheres to a perfect sphere. It protects the speaker and increases the bass tones when lying on a surface. So it provides massive sound for this tiny device. The speaker comes with a built-in rechargeable Lithium battery and is compatible with most audio devices. The 3.5mm jack is a regular plug for headphones. When pluged-in, the speaker turns on automatically. For stereo sound two BALLO speakers can be connected with a stereo wire.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Ballo speaker is a tiny, colorful speaker that provides massive sound. It works with every audio device that has a headphone plug. Its shape is a perfect sphere and very unique. The speaker lays, rolls or hangs for a 360 degree music experience.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: -
CHALLENGE: Nowadays people's lifestyles are more and more mobile. That's why we tried to completely rethink the shape of a portable speaker. There is no need for an actual stand. The spherical shape allows the speaker to lay wherever it is used and it increases the bass tones by the resonance of the surface. The materialization is a reminder of old microphones.
