PRIMARY FUNCTION: Energy Saving Lamp Packaging
INSPIRATION: To create an interesting packaging for a very simple basic product that most consumers don’t even look at. Yet has to be economical but able to stand out from the crowd.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This packaging is in a triangular shape, making it more visible from all sides. When placed on a supermarket or DIY store shelf, it stands out from the crowd, which are usually plain square boxes. In addition, the open window in the front allows the consumer to actually see the product. The exposed lamp base below the pack allows them to test the light before buying but without taking the product out of the box, thus reducing possibility of damage, returns and mishandling. It also make it faster and hassle-free for the consumer to test the product.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Most energy saving lamp packaging in the market today are boring, square boxes. Research also reveals that most buyers would like to test the lamps before buying to ensure that they light up and works properly. Thus Dahom Energy Saving Lamp Packaging uses bright lime green as its main colour to attract buyers. The window on the box allows buyers to see what the lamp actually looks like. And the exposed lamp base at the bottom allows buyers to stick it in a lamp tester to make sure it lights up before buying, but without opening the actual packaging, thus eliminating and reducing potential damages and returns due to mishandling.
CHALLENGE: To make the packaging for a very basic product interesting and stands out from the crowd.
