DESIGN NAME: Twins
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Seating Units
INSPIRATION: The challenge was to create friendly, simple design that can find its place in various contemporary office designs. Linear furnitures, rectangular spaces of contemporary office interiors inspired us to create a pleasing contrast with a sculpturesque, dynamic form which comes from slight angles of the object.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Twins is a seating unit for guests both in the offices and at the lounge areas. The split form of the product creates a surprising visual effect and it urges curiosity to understand how the parts stand together. Thin metal legs support this visual puzzle by creating contrast between the bulky body of the seating part and legs. So, the top part has a floating effect. Even though the separate seating parts mounted together, they stretch very gently, so they embrace the human body. With its sculpturesque, dynamic form, it creates a pleasing contrast with rectangular spaces of office interiors.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Seating for two is made up of exactly same split pieces of unit for one, used at both ends, and an additional flat surface in the middle. So it is simply possible to play with the size of middle part to create different size of longer versions and it doesn't require an additional casting investment. To design such pieces to be used in both small and long version of the product helps the producer to reach an economical production solution.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1 seater: 73 x 73 x h:72 cm, long version: 194 x 73 x h:72 cm

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: -
CHALLENGE: The challenge was to create friendly, simple design that can find its place in various contemporary office designs. Linear furnitures, rectangular spaces of contemporary office interiors inspired us to create a pleasing contrast with a sculpturesque, dynamic form which comes from slight angles of the object.
The form implies symmetry of forces and balance which is also defined as harmony. We know that human body seeks for this harmony because of its own symmetrical nature. So human body was another inspiration for design. That is why the object has a sympathetic, appealing appearance.
