DESIGN NAME: Scotts Tower
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Interior Design
INSPIRATION: Neighbourhoods in the Sky
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Scotts tower is the first development to be launched under the Far East Organization's new SOHO Brand. The 231-unit tower is constructed to function like a vertical neighbourhood having different zones that would normally sprawl horizontally across a city block. Lead architect of UNStudio, Ben van Berkel described his creation's distinction as a "neighbourhoods in the sky"; a vertical city where each zone has its own distinct identity. Our challenge was to manifest the concept of the development in the show suite to design an interior that makes it suitable for one to live, work and play.
In response to the "neighbourhood" concept, our team proposed creating "a space within a space", integrating work and living area. Not unusual but practicality was the order of the day making the space work on a day-to-day basis. Taking advantage of the higher ceiling, the team created a loft in the master bedroom - additional free space well within regulations for the client. Having created the loft allowed for our team to play up the free space into the “boss’ area” for his lounging and relaxation needs. Bedroom 2 was converted into a work area with generous storage and an integrated pull down bed which caters for an overnight guest. Additional storage is also well integrated into the steps leading up to the master loft.
The marble feature wall distinctively adds a touch of luxury and elegance to the living area that doubles up as a corporate lounge area for office use.
